Letter to the Editor - Friends holding silent auction for library

Editor,

The Friends of the Havre-Hill County Library set-up a silent auction in the library. The silent auction items are older slightly used Montana books, local authors and a few other classics; with fiction and non-fiction books by favorite authors such as Doig and J.R.R. Tolkien. Stop by the library, located at 402 Third St., to view the display and to place your bid. This silent auction is running Sep. 17 until Oct. 21 after The Friends of the Library’s annual meeting.

The Friends of the Library meet at noon on the third Thursday of the month, September through May excluding December. Dues to become a member are $1. The 2021 annual meeting will be held Oct. 21. Please join us you are free to bring your lunch. At the October meeting, we will be discussing the best time and place to meet and if it is reasonable to plan an annual winter reading series to be held at the library. Libraries are the foundation to a community and the Havre-Hill County Library is no exception.

The Friends of the Library’s annual book sale has been canceled for past two years. The library staff have been storing the books, but, due to the pandemic, the Friends have been advised the meeting room at the library is too small for any chance of practicing social distancing. The pending dates the for the next annual book sale was tabled at the September meeting. We all love a good used-book sale; join us to help make these decisions.

Bonnie Williamson, Friends of the Havre-Hill County Library
