Sing praises
You know, Lord, cloud formations are breathtaking - mostly when we're on top of a hill, especially when we need rain. One minute it looks like rainclouds bounding over the horizon and a bit later, the sun comes bursting through again - in a teasing way. You do promise seed time and harvest, Lord.
Depending on where one is standing, working or even visiting, let's take a moment to look around and notice Your handy work. In our area we see mountains on one side and plains and valley on the other three sides, a beautiful sight. Golden fields now harvested and waving pasturelands make up the plains. What a beautiful sight. Makes one feel like singing praises to You, Lord.
And the wind! Forever the wind - we cry. It's hard to praise as the air crisps the skin and cracks the lips. Wind starts in the mountains warm and wet; drops its moisture on the heights, then, wrung dry, gains hotness, hits the plains and comes across like the breath of a blowtorch. Not a cloud in the sky to cut off the sun to relieve the glare, even for a minute.
Closer to home, neighbor's rose bushes are heavenly beautiful, and smell so sweet. Thank You, Lord, for growing them - more praises! But we must pay attention to the thorns. Doesn't all this sound a bit like life, Lord, some sweetness along with some stickers? But somehow, it all goes together.
Worship is the natural state of things. Every bird's song is a song of praise. Every baby's first breath fills our hearts with joy and every breath we take is also a miracle. We shouldn't miss the moment - it's all praises - our gift from God. We read in Psalm 150:6 "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord."
Love, Mara
