So far this season, the Fort Benton 8-man football team had dominated their opponents for a 2-0 start. While the Longhorns had to battle this past Friday night against Belt, they still pulled out the 27-20 victory.
The Longhorns took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter with a three-yard touchdown run from Landis Arganbright. But Belt answered right back with two touchdowns for a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Fort Benton again leaned on their running game with a five-yard score from Andrew Ballyntine and Cade Ball's two-point conversion for a 14-12 lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Longhorns got the running game going again. In the final quarter, Colter Ball ran for a 29-yard score and Cade Ball ran for a 40-yard score to extend their lead to 27-12. Belt scored a touchdown and two-point conversion to make it a one-possession game. However, the Longhorns held on to win the game.
With the win, Fort Benton moves to 3-0 on the season. They will next play against Great Falls Central on the road Saturday.

Simms 31, CJI 22
After a 2-0 start to the season, the Chester-Joplin-Inverness 8-man football team has faced some adversity the past few weeks. First the Hawks lost to Belt for their first loss of the season and now they lost to Simms, 31-22, at home this past Friday night.
After Simms took a 6-0 lead early in the game, the Hawks responded with a 10-yard touchdown run from quarterback Kyle Harmon and a two-point conversion from Nate Nelson for an 8-6 lead in the second quarter. Simms responded with another big play for a touchdown to retake the lead. But Harmon again responded with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Ghekiere for a 14-14 tie at halftime.
In the second half, Simms continued to score while they slowed down the CJI offense. Over the last two quarters, Simms scored 17 straight points for a 31-14 lead. CJI scored late with a touchdown pass from Harmon to Ghekiere and a two-point conversion from Adam Grammar. However, there was not enough time to come back.
The CJI Hawks are now 2-2 this season and will look to get back in the win column when they head on the road Friday night to play Chinook.

Big Sandy 32, Sunburst 12
Coming into the season, the Big Sandy six-man football team was looking to repeat their success from 2020 where they qualified for the playoffs. While the Pioneers started this fall 0-2, they are beginning to round into form with two straight wins including their 32-12 win over Sunburst at home this past Saturday.
The game started with both teams trading scores. After Sunburst scored an early touchdown, Big Sandy responded with an 11-yard touchdown run by Kody Strutz to tie the game 6-6 at the end of the first quarter. Sunburst again scored to take the lead but that would be their last score of the game.
In the second quarter alone, the Pioneers recorded a safety and another touchdown run from Strutz to take the lead. Big Sandy capped off the first half with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Braydon Cline to Cooper Taylor for a 20-12 lead. In the second half, Cline scored two more times with a touchdown run as well a throw to Lance Rutledge for a score.
Big Sandy is now 2-2 and will look for a winning record when they host Heart Butte Friday night.

Shelby 68, Harlem 6
In their first season in 8-man football, Harlem has been trying to adjust to the new game. As they make those adjustments, they have suffered several losses this fall. Their most recent loss came in a 68-6 loss on the road to Shelby on Friday night.
Shelby jumped on the Wildcats early with 40 points in the first quarter. The Coyotes again lit up the scoreboard in the third quarter with 20 points in that 12-minute span. Meanwhile, the Harlem offense did not get on the scoreboard until the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach.
Harlem is now 1-3 and will next play at home against Simms Friday night.

Chinook 50, Hays-Lodge Pole 14
Early this season, the Chinook 8-man football team has been dominant for an undefeated record. Things did not change this past Friday night as they continued to play well with a 50-14 victory at home over Hays-Lodge Pole.
The Chinook offense led by quarterback Levi Jensen and running backs Hunter Molyneaux and Tyler Schoen jumped on HLP early for a 36-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. On the other sideline, the Thunderbirds were playing in their first game of the season because of COVID-19 issues. In their first game action this fall, the HLP offense scored a pair of touchdowns but it was not enough to make a dent on the scoreboard.
Chinook is now 4-0 on the year and will look to remain undefeated when they host CJI this Friday night. HLP is now 0-1 to start the season and will next play on the road at Shelby Friday night.
Cascade 58, Rocky Boy 12
Early this season, the Rocky Boy 8-man football team has had to deal with COVID-19 issues. Their game against Fort Benton earlier this month had to be postponed, meaning the Stars only got the chance to play in one game so far this fall. However, Rocky Boy was finally able to get back on the field when they played on the road in a 58-12 loss to Cascade.
Rocky Boy is now 1-1 this season and hopes to avoid any more COVID-19 issues. The Stars will next play Friday night when they head on the road to play Choteau.
Valier 54, Box Elder 0
The Box Elder six-man football team has hit a skid these past few weeks with back-to-back shutout losses. After losing to Bainville, 41-0, the Bears have now suffered a 54-0 loss to Valier on the road this past weekend.
Box Elder is 1-2 this fall and will look to get the offense going when they play on the road against North Star this Saturday.
North Star six-man football was scheduled to play Lincoln this past Friday but the game was canceled. The Knights will hopefully play this weekend against at home against Box Elder.
