Local blood drive co-ordinator
The recent Havre Community Red Cross blood drive held at St. Jude Parish Center Monday, Sept. 13, was a great success.
The original goal was 109 units.
The drive saw 88 single units collected and 10 double units, for a total of 98 units of blood. After processing, this will provide 288 lifesaving products ready for distribution to hospital patients.
Several of the donors were first time donors that day. A huge “Thank You” goes out to all those who took time out of their lives to help save the lives of strangers.
Pre-packaged snacks, juice and water were provided by the Red Cross. People can look for lunches to be provided locally at future blood drives.
The next Havre Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 8, at St. Jude Parish Center. At this time, appointments are required, so to make an appointment, people can call 868-0911 or visit “http://www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code “havre.”
While Rapid Pass registration online prior to arrival is encouraged, it is not required, but it does shorten the time a bit for one to donate a unit of blood. To access Rapid Pass, people can download the Donor App to their mobile device by going to the Red Cross website at http://www.redcrossblood.org . If people have problems or questions they can contact someone at 1-800-Red Cross, 1-800-733-2767.
If you will be a first time donor and have not had a donor card issued to you, either a hard copy or on your mobile device, please bring a form of legal identification with you.
We look forward to assisting you at the next blood drive.
