Havre High cross country finishes in the middle of the pack at Hardin Invitational

After winning her first meet as the Havre High cross country head coach to open the season, Erin Lynch hoped to repeat that success when her team competed in the Hardin Invitational this past Friday. While the Blue Ponies did not reach those same heights, the boys team finished fourth and the girls team took sixth.

The HHS boys team took fourth with a score of 94 points. Hardin took first in the boys meet with a score of 20 points while Laurel finished second and Miles City finished third. On their boys team, the Ponies were led by Caleb Tomac who took first in his second straight meet. At Hardin, Tomac took first with a time of 17:45.91. Behind him in 19th place was Havre’s Zack May with a time of 19:58.66.

On the girls side of the meet, the HHS girls team finished sixth with 132 points. Hardin also took first on the girls side with a score of 25. Laurel finished second with 67 points and Miles City took third with 102 points.

The HHS girls team was again led by freshman Hailey Gingery, who finished 10th with a time of 23:06.32. Emma Gillen finished 21st with a time of 23:51.32.

Havre also had several runners from their junior varsity team compete in Hardin. In the boys meet, Jackson Headdress had the best finish for Havre as he took 13th place with a time of 23:11.74. In the girls meet, Mac

Kenzie Dean finished 36th with a time of 31:09.54.

After two meets on the road, the Ponies will finally compete in front of their fans this season when they host the Havre Invite this Saturday.
