Press release
Sarah Spangler, RN, director of Northern Montana Health Care of the medical/surgical floor and Sletten Cancer Center nursing, was appointed as the board chair and president of the Montana Board of Nursing.
"Serving on the Board of Nursing has given me an opportunity to develop and grow as a leader while advocating to protect the health, safety, and well-being of Montana citizens," Spangler said. "My knowledge of legislation, rulemaking, and nursing education programs has increased, and I have gained a better understanding of how this impacts the practice of nursing. In my time with the BON, I have been fortunate to meet and network with other RNs around the state. We work together to develop and confirm that best practices are followed by nurses licensed in Montana, to ensure we provide quality care to our patients and communities."
The Montana Board of Nursing is the authorized professional and occupational licensing organization for all the medication aides II, LPNS, RNs and APRNs licensed in the state. The board is authorized and permitted to take any necessary decision or issue any regulation required to promote and standardize the level of medical services in the state.
Spangler was appointed to the Board of Nursing in October of 2019 and served on several sub-committees. She was voted into the board president position during their July board meeting. She will serve as president for four years. Her duties will include presiding at all board meetings, serving as the official representative of the Board, and appointing members to serve on committees.
