Havre police conduct alcohol carding checks

July 23-24 and again Aug. 20 Havre Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks throughout the area.

Compliance checks are used by the department to reduce the availability of alcohol to underage youth from local businesses that sell alcohol, such as bars, restaurants, liquor stores, convenience stores, breweries and grocery stores. Compliance checks are used to help prevent youth from accessing alcohol and to reduce the negative impact associated with underage drinking. Compliance checks will continue to be conducted throughout Havre and Hill County.

During the last several compliance checks, a total of 34 businesses were checked. Ten of the businesses failed, resulting in the employee of the business being cited for the unlawful sale of an alcoholic beverage to a person under 21 years of age.

Business that passed the compliance checks are Hi-Line Gold Casino, Lucky Lil’s Casino, First Street Zip Trip, Highland Park Zip Trip, Triple Dog Brewing, Vizsla Brewing, Gallery Lounge, Montana Lil’s Casino, Holiday Gas Station, Town Pump, Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods, The Pro, Pizza Hut, Canton’s Restaurant, 40 Below, Crawford Distillery, Duck Inn, Box Cars, Vic’s Place, Golden Spike, Shanty Bar, Murphy’s Pub and Eagles Club.

The following business failed compliance checks: Uncle Joe’s Steakhouse, Palace Bar, Oxford Bar, Magic Diamond Casino, Shamrock’s Bar, Liquor Stop Plus, Maui Nights, Crystal City Casino, McLean’s Grocery and the Emporium.

HPD encourages businesses and their employees serving or selling alcohol to attend the Montana Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service, or RASS, training. These courses are also offered online.
