Mike was born on October 3, 1959, in Havre to Elmer and Irene (Buhmann) Mord. He was raised in Zurich, attending grade school there, and he graduated from Chinook High School in 1977. For a few years, he worked as an EMT serving on the ambulance crew.
In 1989, Mike married Tari Mord, and the couple had two children. While in the late '80s and early '90s, Mike owned and operated a cattle feed business, and in the early '90s he began ranching outside of Chinook and at the family ranch in Augusta. In 2018, the couple sold their ranch in Chinook and moved to Havre, and Mike split his time between the ranch in Augusta and their home in Havre.
Mike was a hard-working man who enjoyed landscaping, carpentry, Sudoku puzzles and spending time with his dogs. His granddaughter was a constant source of joy to him, and he spent as much time with her as he could. Mike had a close relationship with his Lord, and his faith carried him through many difficult times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Irene Mord, and all of his grandparents.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tari Mord of Havre; daughter, Jillian (Donnie Walker) Mord of Billings; son, Troy Mord of Pullman, WA; granddaughter, Claire Walker; sister, LuAnn (Sam) Brabson of Chinook; brothers, Ken Mord of Butte, Richard (Michael) Mord of White Suphur Springs, Cory (Ora) Mord of Gonvick, MN, and Todd (Tina) Mord of Zurich; and several nieces, nephews, and their children.
