Lights add three standouts to 2021-22 roster

The 2021-22 Frontier Conference men’s basketball season is just around the corner. But, it’s not too late for Montana State University-Northern head coach Shawn Huse to continue building his roster.

Huse recently announced additions to the Lights for the 2021-22 campaign. Jerome Bynum, a 6-0 versatile sharpshooter of Southern Arkansas University Tech, joins the Lights after averaging 11.5 points per game, on 47 percent three-point shooting in 2019-20. They finished 19-11 that year.

Also, 6-3 Terry Holmes, also of Southern University Tech, who played key minutes and made key contributions on both ends of the court for the Rockets. He shot 54 percent from the field and averaged 5 rebounds per game as a role player after recovering from a serious injury a year ago. He will join the Lights after helping his team to a 20-5 finish, and Region 2 and South Central District championships.

And 6-4 Anthony Braggs who spent last season at Peru State and was able to play on and off through the pandemic, played at South Puget Sound previously. While there, he averaged 14.6 points per game on 51 percent shooting, and garnered 9.9 rebounds per game in his sophomore season. He helped the Clippers to a second place finish in the 8-team West NWAC standings (Northwest Athletic Conference), before their season was abruptly ended by the pandemic. For his efforts he was named second-team All-Region and to the five-player All-Defensive Team.

“We are very excited to have these three on board with our group,” said Huse. “They have all shown high character personalities, played for great coaches on great teams, and help shore up some things for our group. Number one, they are all team-first guys who work extremely hard both on and off the court. We are excited to watch them enhance everything we do off the court, in the classroom, in workouts, and in games for us.”

They join a Lights squad that hosted and won their first round Frontier Conference playoff game in 2020-21, then finished in a close semi-final loss to the eventual champion.
