Montana's Jace Lewis, right, and Eastern Washington's Eric Barriere were both recently named STATS FCS Preseason All-Americans. The Griz, EWU and the Montana State Bobcats are all ranked in the STATS FCS Preseason Poll in the Top 15. The poll was released Monday, with the Griz at No. 9 and the Cats at No. 12. Both Montana and Montana State started fall camp last week.
Both the Montana State Bobcats and Montana Grizzlies got fall camp underway last week, and when the season begins Labor Day weekend, both will be highly ranked.
In the STATS FCS Preseason Poll released Monday, the Griz come in at No. 9 and the Cats are ranked No. 12. The STATS poll and the NCAA FCS Coaches Poll are the two main polls for the Football Championship Subdivision. Overall, five Big Sky Conference teams are ranked in the Top 25, led by four-time defending conference champion Weber State. The Wildcats are ranked No. 6, while Eastern Washington is No. 11. UC Davis is also in the Top 25 at No. 23, while Sacramento State is receiving votes.
Both Montana and Montana State have also announced all kickoff times for their home games this fall as well.
The Griz open their home slate with Western Illinois Sept. 11 with a kickoff time of 6 p.m. Montana's homecoming game will be Sept 25, with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Cal Poly, while the Oct. 9 home game against Dixie State Oct. 9 and the Oct. 16 home game against Sacramento State game are both 1 p.m. kickoffs.
The Griz also host Southern Utah Oct. 30 with a 12 p.m. kickoff, while the annual Brawl of the Wild against Montana State is set for Nov. 20 at 12 p.m. The Grizzlies have not finalized all of their broadcast schedule as of yet.
Montana State has five home games this season, starting with a Sept. 11 game against Drake. That game, which is MSU's Gold Rush Game, will kick off at 6 p.m. MSU also host San Diego University Sept. 18 at 1 p.m., then plays back-to-back home games against Northern Colorado Oct. 2, which is at 1 p.m., and Cal Poly Oct. 9, with a 2 p.m. start. MSU also welcomes in Idaho State Oct. 23 for a 1 p.m. kickoff, and closes out its home schedule Nov. 13 against the Idaho Vandals. That game also kicks off at 1 p.m.
The Griz and Cats both have games televised on ROOT Sports and ESPNU and ESPN+ this season.
The Bobcats open their season Sept. 4 at the University of Wyoming. That game kicks off at 2 p.m. in Laramie. The Griz also open their season Sept. 4, with a road game at Washington. The game in Seattle will also kick at 6 p.m. M.S.T.
