Hi-Line fall sports begin practice this week

As the calendar heads into the middle of August, the return of high school sports to the Hi-Line is now just a few weeks away. While fans will still have to wait to watch their kids compete, the athletes themselves are starting to prepare for the season as they begin practice this week.

The Havre High football team will hold their first practice this Friday as they try to get ready for their season opener against Sidney on Aug. 27 at Blue Pony Stadium. The HHS volleyball team's first day of practice will also be Friday before they open the season with a tournament in Sidney the weekend of Aug. 27-28.

Blue Pony cross country will also begin practicing this Friday before they start the season with the Great Falls Invite on Aug. 27. The HHS golf team will begin practicing on Thursday as they will start their season next week on Aug. 16 with the Great Falls Invite.

This Friday will also be the first day that other football teams across the Hi-Line can begin their preparation for the fall season. Fort Benton, Chinook, Chester-Joplin-Inverness, Rocky Boy, Harlem and Hays-Lodgepole will begin the 8-man football season on Aug. 27. The 6-man football season will also begins on this date as Big Sandy, Box Elder and North Star hit the field.

Hi-Line volleyball will also return to the court for their first practice this Friday. The Chinook, Big Sandy, North Star, Box Elder, Fort Benton, Hays-Lodgepole, CJI, Harlem and Rocky Boy volleyball teams will then begin their fall season on Aug. 26.

With fall sports fast approaching, all these teams will have little time to prepare their rosters for competition at the end of the month so, hopefully, they make the most out of the next few weeks.
