School board approves substitute teacher pay raise

The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees unanimously approved a raise in substitute teacher pay at a meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Superintendent Craig Mueller said he thinks this increase in pay in the right thing to do and hopes it will attract more potential substitute teachers and retain those they already have.

The proposed increase applies to substitute para-professionals, teachers who have substituted for the district for 30 days, and those who already have a certified teaching license.

He said he hopes this will encourage retired HPS teachers to return to the district as substitutes.

Mueller thanked the board for approving the proposal, especially before the district’s job fair.

“I really appreciate all of your time,” he said.

The next board meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m at Havre Middle School.
