Press release
With summer in full swing, Havre youth often spend more time participating in outdoor activities around their neighborhoods. As a community, we want to encourage our youth to engage in activities and behaviors that are safe and healthy, as well as promoting positive decision-making and wellness habits.
The Havre Police Department has teamed up with the HELP Committee and Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line’s prevention team to bring the Havre Safe Kids Reward Program to our community.
The Safe Kids Reward Program is an incentive-based system that awards kids in our community who are making safe choices over the summer. Have Police officers have reward bags that include a note of recognition, prevention messaging items, and coupons for free treats donated by local businesses Dairy Queen and McDonald’s.
So what does a youth have to do to be rewarded? It’s a broad list. Whether it’s being safely and appropriately seated in a vehicle, wearing a bike helmet, using the crosswalks, or otherwise demonstrating healthy behavior, this program is an opportunity for community youth to receive recognition for their safe choices.
Stay safe and have a great summer!
