Multiple fires being fought in Blaine County

Chinook Volunteer Fire Department acceping food, drink donations

Chinook Volunteer Fire Department reported on its Facebook page Thursday evening that it was fighting seven fires in southern Blaine County.

The department said in a post it would appreciate any help with donations people could give, with the doors of the fire hall at 1201 Illinois St. in Chinook open at 6 a.m. and someone staffing the hall to accept donations all day.

"Non-perishables are wonderful in all size, shape or form," a post said.

An earlier post said the primary donations desired include dry sandwiches with no mayonnaise or anything affected by heat; individually small packaged chips; snacks such as candy bars, trail mix and so on; Gatorade, and bottled water.

The said asked people to please not not attempt to drive to the active scenes and deliver these items personally because having people in unknown locations is very dangerous.

The post asked people to please report to the firehall at 406-357-2500 any trip if people feel the need to be in the area of the fires.

A post said that at 12:28 this morning resources were on the scene and bedded for the evening at several burn locations and crews would be back on the lines at 6 this morning, added that several fires were near 100 percent containment.

The post said the department would provide an update mid-morning today.
