Letter to the Editor - Keep our children healthy and in school

Editor,

Congratulations to the Bear Paw Marathon runners! Let us follow their lead by focusing on and improving our health.

The parents and children in this community need the support of our health advisors and approval from our educational administration and school board for a full five day a week in-person education for all HPS children in the fall. It is important that we stay healthy, so our children can attend school in person during the 2021/2022 school year. Please do whatever you can to stay well.

It is fair to say that HPS children were among the hardest-hit during this virus compared to most Montana Class A and Great Falls Class AA schools in terms of in-person learning. They deserve a better education than what they received throughout this virus.

Improving our overall health is arguably the number one way to avoid an educational shutdown in the future and protect the vulnerable members of our community.

Thankfully, vaccines are available, but the next pandemic could be right around the corner and the flu could make a vicious comeback. Let us do our part by exercising, reducing stress and eating healthy to support our immune systems so, come this fall, being tested for COVID is a thing of the past and the education of children the priority.

Vaccines and improved health will keep our community safe, and our kids well educated. Contact your doctor to confirm.

Go Blue Ponies!
