Local Golf Report: Congrats to our area B-C golfers

Before the snow flew, the Class B and C golfers got their 2021 state tournaments in, and we who love golf were so glad, after the 2020 spring sports season was canceled last year.

At the Class C state tourney, held last week in Bozeman, the Chinook girls took fourth place with a 663. Crystal Hofer had a Top 10 finish for the Sugarbeeters, tying for eighth overall with Fort Benton’s Casha Corda. Hailey Bell also placed inside the Top 20 for the Beeters. The Chinook boys finished in eighth place at the meet, with a 613. Ethan MacLeod was the top finisher for Chinook, while Andrew Ballantyne was the top finisher for Fort Benton. The Class B state tourney was also held in Billings last weekend, and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the spring high school golfers on their season.

Meanwhile, back on the home front, league golf was played last Tuesday and Wednesday, but men’s league at Beaver Creek Golf Course and women’s league any Prairie Farms was canceled last Thursday night due to the weather.

Last Tuesday night saw Tire Rama earn high-team honors, while Jeremy Jensen and Jordy Donovan each shot even par to share low gross. A.J. Lamere and Cal Wirtzberger shared low net, with 33.5.

Last Wednesday night, Jim Kirkpatrick and Jackson Boos tied for low gross, each shooting 38, while Ron Brenna was low net at 31, and Master Sports earned high team with 20 points.
