Vizsla Brewing wins multiple honors at The European Beer Challenge

Havre is home to an international-award-winning brewery as Vizsla Brewing Company won double gold honors at the 2021 European Beer Challenge.

Vizsla, which opened two years ago, won the double gold medal with its beer the Blond “Chessie” Dubbel.

A press release from Vizsla said the challenge is Europe’s most important beer competition and the double gold medal is the highest honor awarded for any beer style at the competition.

The “Chessie” was one of thousands of beer samples submitted from 39 countries and competed head-to-head with some of Europe’s high-profile breweries. The London County Hall hosted the final tasting in April, with judges including senior representatives from some of London’s most prominent restaurant and brewery industries.

“We decided to enter this competition because we were curious to see how our European-style beers would fare against other beers in the European market, and we are excited to find out that our Belgium Blond Dubbel did so well,” co-owner and brewer Raymond Miller said in the press release.

Vizsla also submitted three other medal-winning beers. The Vizsla Red took home a gold medal while the Akita Apricot Wheat and the Sassy “Griffon” Saison both won bronze medals.

The competition is judged by accredited international beer buyers and winning this top award will help expose Vizsla brewing to a broader audience, the press release said.

Prior to competing at the international level, Vizsla received national recognition at the 2020 U.S. Open Beer Championship in which the winners were announced this past September. 6,000-plus beers represented more than 140 different styles.

Vizsla Brewing won a bronze Medal for their Brown Lab and Chihuahua Stout. The company took home three gold medals and a silver medal at the 2019 U.S. Open.

Vizsla Brewing opened in the fall of 2018 in the Holiday Village Mall in Havre.

Its website said Vizsla Brewing will be helping with a “Pint Night for the Local Elks Lodge” at the Elks Lodge on Second Street June 17 from 6-8 p.m. For every pint sold, Vizsla Brewing will donate $1 to the Elks Lodge.
