Local Golf Report: Great turnout for middle school golf

What a weather weekend it was. And yet, the ugly spring weather is headed right back our way.

Still, I want to take this time to wish our area golfers who will be play at Class B and C state golf tournaments good luck this week. The tournaments should get done this week before the bad weather hits, and I hope to have results in this column next week.

As for league golf, it continues on at both Prairie Farms and Beaver Creek golf courses.

In men’s league last Tuesday at Prairie Farms, Stockman Bank was high team with 24.5 points, while Levi Olsen shot a one-under 35 for low gross. Chuck Wimmer was low net at 24.5.

Last Wednesday night saw Jeremy Jensen fire a scorching 4-under par 32 for low gross, while Chad Edgar and Byron Ophus shared low net at 34. My guys from Korb Construction were high team with 21.5 points.

In men’s league last Thursday at BCGC, Beaver Creek and Vic’s shared high-team honors, while Nick Lowen shot a 39 for low gross and Spencer Ross was low net 31.5.

Last Thursday night also saw the second night of ladies league at Prairie Farms. Jenna Jensen was low gross with a 38, while Lorrie Keller was low net at 30. Prairie Farms was high team with 23.5 points. Sarah Spangler, Ashlee Baltrusch, Renessa Galland and Jensen composed the team.

Lastly, I want to say a big thank-you to Tanner Veis for not only inviting me out to meet his middle school golfers during their season-ending tournament, but also for working with the great group of kids and helping to build up our school golf program. Thanks, Tanner, and I look forward to seeing lots of new faces on the Blue Pony golf teams next fall.
