Hot and cold in Montana

After several days of warm, summer-like — but not record-breaking — days, the region is expected to have a flash of more winter-like weather later this week.

Temperatures steadily warmed over the weekend, with National Weather Service reporting at its recording station at the Havre City-County Airport a high of 70 Friday, 75 Saturday and 80 Sunday.

The station recorded a high of 87 Monday, although thermometers in town recorded temperatures of at least 89.

That was close to a record — a high of 90 was set May 17, 2006, but none of those temperatures went into the record book.

The record for May 14 is 98, set in 1966, for May 15 92, set in 1917, and for May 16 it is 95, set in 1988.

But the weather is expected to turn. The high for today in Havre is prediceted to hit 73, then 61 Wednesday.

Wednesday night is forecast to see some rain, with a low of 35, then Thurday’s high is predicted to be 43 with rain and a chance of snow.

A chance of rain and snow stays in the forecast Friday and Saturday, with rain and thunderstorms remaining in the forecast through Memorial Day next Monday.

Highs for Havre are predicted at 42 Friday, 49 Sunday, back into the 50s for Sunday and 60s Monday.
