Clarification - Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons

In an article on the front page of Thursday’s edition of Havre Daily News about a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons awareness walk Wednesday, Havre Daily News cited a story saying a witness corroborated a Billings Police report that Cole Stump pulled a gun while struggling with Billings police officers before the officers fired, killing Stump. The news report quoted the witness as saying Stump fired first. Stump’s sister, Tasheena Duran, said the witness had not corroborated the police statement and forwarded a message from Billings police saying the witness had not been interviewed.
