The Montana State University-Northern Lights got a much-needed four games in this spring, after missing all of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was an experience head coach Andrew Rolin said he was glad his Lights got.
And while the Frontier Conference' spring season came to an end two weeks ago, last week, five Lights were honored as the league released its 2021 Spring All-Conference Team and postseason awards.
On offense, Northern sophomores offensive lineman Spencer Koloday was named Second-Team All-Conference for the Lights. Kolody is the third Northern OL to receive All-Conference accolades in recent years.
Northern also had three defenders named Second-Team All-Conference, including defensive tackle Pat Hammond, linebacker Dylan Wampler and defensive back Josh Rose.
Sophomore Hunter Riley was also named First-Team All-Conference as a punter.
Northern senior defensive back Wylie Novak earned a 2021 Champions of Character Award, as well.
Regular season champion co-champion Carroll College head coach Troy Purcell shared Coach of the Year honors with co-champion Eastern Oregon head coach Tim Camp.
Eastern Oregon redshirt senior quarterback Kai Quinn was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year. Eastern Oregon senior defensive lineman Chase Van Wyck was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. College of Idaho running back Nick Calzaretta is the conference's nominee for NAIA Player of the Year.
