Park board hears update on park usage, activities

Beaver Creek Park usage is steadily increasing, Superintendent Chad Edgar said at the Hill County Park Board meeting Monday.

Edgar also let the board know that the south end cattle guard replacement has been delayed because the road department no longer wants to install it due to liability issues, further delaying the completion of the south cross fence. The board will be working with a contractor to replace the cattle guard in the future.

Edgar provided a park update that included the maintenance being done on park vehicles and garbage trailer. The Chapel roof, that was damaged from a tree falling on it has been repaired. The lawn areas around Kiawanas campground are being repaired after damage from snow removal this winter.

Spring tree cleanup in the park begins today and will be followed by trash pickup.

Havre Trails is opening a disk golf course near Rotary Pond and the board approved the name Normandy Coulee Disk Golf Course presented by Havre Trails President Lindsey Brandt-Bennett.

Great Northern Fairgrounds Manager Frank English, representing several local clubs, presented a proposal to host a fundraiser benefitting Beaver Creek Park and opening a veterans memorial campground in the park.

A potluck will be held at the Beaver Lodge at Camp Kiwanis for Hill County Park Boards next meeting May 3.
