Officers investigate stab wound with uncooperative victim

Havre Daily News

Havre Police Department officers investigated after a caller at the emergency room reported at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday that a man had walked in with a stab wound to his neck.

Police Capt. Aaron Wittmer said the victim told officers that a man dressed in black with a gas mask on approached him in the alley on the 1100 Block of Second Street and asked for a cigarette, then pulled a knife from his pocket, stabbed the victim and ran away.

Investigating officers could find no evidence, Wittmer said, and the victim was uncooperative, refusing to sign a statement.

Officers suspect the victim, who is familiar to officers, knows the perpetrator, Wittmer said, but either way the case has to be considered closed unless the victim decides to cooperate.

“It’s not a random act of violence,” he added.
