Work expected to begin Monday
Press release
Construction crews will begin work Monday on the bridge deck replacement on the Scott Coulee Bridge on U.S. Secondary Highway 234 — Beaver Creek Highway — about a mile south of Havre.
The project will be completed in two phases. Traffic should expect short delays beginning Monday as crews mill the roadway and place concrete barrier on the project.
People should expect flaggers with minimal delay during the first week of construction. Phase 1 will close the southbound lane until the bridge deck is complete and new bridge rail is installed.
Phase 2 will close the northbound lane until the bridge deck is completed and new bridge rail is installed.
During northbound and southbound closures, the traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals.
The tentative completion date, weather permitting, will August.
Traffic impacts during bridge project include:
• Single lane traffic throughout the project, expect short delays by traffic signals
• Both sides of the bridge will be 200-foot sections of milled surfaces
• There will be a 14’ width restriction
• Expect a reduced speed limit of 35 mph
“Safety is our number one priority during construction,” said Stefan Streeter, HDR engineering project manager. “The traveling public should pay close attention to signage near the project area as conditions can change during construction.”
Over-width loads wishing to pass through the construction area will need to contact Sletten Construction at 406-454-6466 to schedule accommodations for passage.
