Turner star Shyan Krass signs with MSU-Northern Skylight basketball
Just a warning - a tornado is headed towards Havre and the Armory Gymnasium.
The Tornado coming is Turner star forward Shyan Krass.
Montana State University-Northern women's basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Turner Krass to join the Skylight program next fall on Tuesday.
Krass is a 6-4 forward, who averaged 21 points and 16 rebounds per game for the Tornadoes this past season. She shot nearly 52 percent from the field and 76 percent from the foul line. She also averaged 3 blocks and 1.6 steals per game.
Krass also helped the Tornadoes to unprecedented success during her time on the court, including three straight trips to the Northern C Divisional tourney in Great Falls, and a 9C championship game appearance in 2020.
"We are thrilled to have Shyan on board," Mouat said. "She is a person we've watched and known for a long time, and I believe she has a great future in a Skylight uniform. In addition, she's a great student and a person of high character. I believe that her potential is unlimited and look forward to her progress on and off of the floor at MSU-Northern."
Krass is a three-time Class C All-State selection, and a four-time (once second team, three times first team) All-Conference pick. She played five varsity seasons of basketball and was a full-time starter for four. She also participated in track and field, where she qualified for the State Class C Track Meet in the discus. Krass has also participated in volleyball for Harlem High School during her prep sports career.
Academically, Krass was an honor roll student, an Academic All-State honoree, and the president of the National Honor Society.
"Shyan has incredible potential at the college level. She has size and length and can run the floor, and does a great job on the boards. Plus, she has the ability to step out and shoot the perimeter shot. She is a player with unlimited potential."
Krass said on Tuesday that Northern has already been instrumental in her development over the years after she attended Skylight's camps and more during her high school years.
"I chose the skylights because they are a big reason I became who I am today, and I think they are a good fit for my personality and skill level," she said. "I am very exited about signing, but also kinda nervous. I am exited to play at the next level."
Krass is the daughter of Lorin and Jill Krass. She carries a 3.91 grade point average and plans on majoring in Health and Physical Education or Agriculture at MSU-Northern.
