Plans for rodeo at 2021 fair still in flux
At the monthly meeting of the Great Northern Fair Board Tuesday, Board Chair Bobbie Dolphay announced that she, Vice-Chair Chelby Gooch, and Board Member Ray Kallenberger have all resigned.
In addition to the recent departure of Board Member and former Chair Tyler Smith, the board now has four empty seats.
Dolphay said her reason for resignation was personal.
Gooch and Kallenberger did not attend the meeting and were not available for comment by print deadline this morning.
During the meeting, the board heard from Great Northern Rodeo Committee Secretary Amanda Knutson who said her organization is looking to put on a rodeo this year.
Board members said they have also been in contact with the Treasure State Rodeo and the College Rodeo Board who have also expressed interest in putting on a rodeo this year.
The board also discussed Havre Lions Club drive-through Pronto Pup vending event which will take place May 15 and 16, and Dolphay said she wanted to remind people looking to hold events in the Great Northern Fair Ground’s Community Center or Bigger Better Barn that they can host no more than 99 people, in accordance with orders from the Montana state fire marshal.
The board also discussed repairs to the fairground office and Board Member Josh Heitzenroder said Brad Lotton recently donated $700 worth of ceiling tiles to the project, which he said was very kind of him.
Dolphay also briefly discussed the Great Northern Fair’s new website which she said should be finished by next month.
