Orion Thivierge, Havre High Wrestling
Nothing is better than averaging a tough loss. And Havre High junior Orion Thivierge did just that on the biggest stage. Last Saturday in Miles City, Thivierge captured his second straight Class A state championship by pinning Lewistown’s Keaton Potter in the 170-pound state title match. Thivierge had fallen to Potter in the Eastern A the week before, but he bounced back to win another title. Thivierge was the 2020 Class A state champ at 160 pounds.
Havre High Girls Basketball
It takes a team to win a state championship. And while the Havre Blue Ponies are loaded with talented basketball players, more than anything, they are a team. And together, the Ponies achieved greatness at last weekend’s Class A state tournament in Great Falls. Beating Hamilton and Columbia Falls, and then winning their thrilling double-overtime game against Billings Central, the Ponies certainly earned the state title, their third in the last four seasons.
