Grief Poem - On Other Side of the Bed

"I'm free 'they/he' said, "Don't grieve too long, 'cause I have been set free.

"I'll follow in the path God set, the one laid out for me."

Good friends, good times, but - loved one left; our time with them, too brief.

Tasks left undone, they'll stay that way, right now we deal with grief.

Remembering back so long ago, our future lay ahead.

Our loved one was comfort and love, on other side of bed.

But now he's gone, we had great years, God paved our way, God led.

Still in the night 'we/I' reach for him, on other side of bed.

Nobody knows the tears inside, nor how LONG Grief will last?

Folks think we're thru; we're better, now; but guess what! Grief's not fast!

Though he's not here, You're, near, my Lord. That's what the Good Book said.

Grieving is hard, the past is gone; one side's empty in bed.

Grief is so individual; just share but don't compare.

A touch, a hug, a listening ear; shows grieving ones you care.

Our love did grow as TIME went on, as on God's word we fed.

But now 'he's' gone – there's no one there, on other side of bed.

As we grew old, some dreams came true, we knew what lay ahead.

We wish you 'dear,' would always be, on other side of bed.

Then morning dawns, time to get up, tuck covers, put on spread.

The morning light strokes where he'd rest, the empty side of bed.
