Northern men's XC lands standout Ronan runner

The Montana State University-Northern men's cross country team will have another Montana runner on its roster next fall.

Northern head coach Chad Spangler recently announced the signing of Ronan High School standout Micheal Irvine. The senior at Ronan High has signed a letter of intent to run cross country for the Lights beginning in the fall of 2021.

"Michael was a Top 15 runner in Class A during his senior season and is poised to have a great senior track season, too. I'm really excited that Michael has committed to Northern," Spangler said. "He spent some time up here with the men's team and was really a good fit. All the guys wanted him on the team. I know that he has a lot of potential as a runner, but I was also impressed with his character and the way he presented himself. I'm really excited about this young man."

"It has been quite the journey coaching Michael," Ronan head coach Riley Dennis said. "Ever since the first middle school practice he has overcome and grown so much on and off the course. Through everything, he has persevered and transformed into both a spectacular runner and an outstanding young man. Michael has only scratched the surface of his potential, and I have no doubts that he will continue to do amazing things in all aspects of his life. Coach Noelle and I are so very proud and wish him all the best."

Irvine is planning to major in graphic design or business next year.
