Hi-Line Girls Roundup

It won't be long before it's tournament time around the Hi-Line. So, that means games right now are very crucial.

Last week's crucial games started Tuesday night, Where Turner beat Hays-Lodge Pole 41-39. The Thunderbirds had missed the last two weeks because of COVID-19 issues, but they played really well in their return. They had the lead going into the fourth quarter before Turner ran off a 13-7 run to win in a close game.

Shyan Krass scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Tornadoes, while Alliya Pretty Paint paced HLP with 10 points.

The Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks have also had to miss games recently because of COVID, but they were back on the floor against arch rival North Star Tuesday night in Chester. Unfortunately, CJI fell to the Knights

Meanwhile, Box Elder continued its hot streak of late with a 58-51 over Chinook Tuesday night. The Bears overcame a huge game from Chinook's Hallie Neibauer, who scored 25 points for the Beeters. Box Elder's Kyla Momberg had a big game, too, with 22 points, while Breanna Bacon added 13.

Tuesday night also saw Rocky Boy fall in convincing fashion to Malta for the second time in a week. The M-Ettes rushed out to a 22-4 lead and tacked on a 28-5 run in the second quarter to get to the running clock. Kirsten LaMere was high scorer for the Morning Stars with four points.

Thursday night saw Fort Benton continue its winning ways with a blowout victory over Denton-Geyser-Stanford. The Longhorns started the game on a 17-2 run and got 12 points by Ashlee Wang and 11 each from Emerson Giese and Maci Molinario.

Fort Benton returned to 9C play Friday night where they had a showdown with second-place Turner. However, the Tornadoes couldn't keep up as Fort Benton rolled to a 67-24 win. A 23-1 run by the Longhorns in the third quarter turned out to be the difference. Ashlee Wang led the Longhorns 15 points, while Fort Benton also got a combined 25 points from Aspen and Emerson Giese. Shyan Krass scored 17 points for Turner.

In a big 9C game Friday night, Chinook went to Chester and beat the CJI Hawks 60-26. The steadily improving Beeters got 21 points from Hallie Neibauer in the win.

Box Elder earned another big win Friday night as the Bears blew out Big Sandy 79-24. The Bears started the game on a 34-6 run and never looked back. Thirteen different Bears scored in the win, while Angela Gopher led all scorers with 15 points. Amy Gasvoda scored six for the Bears.

And on a very busy Friday night in the 9C, North Star crushed HLP 70-32. The Knights outscored the T-Birds 27-14 in the first half, while Jade Wendland scored 23 points and Kenidee Wolery added 17. Sierra Chandler paced the T-Birds with seven points.

Saturday night saw another huge 9C game when Fort Benton met Box Elder, but in the end, the Longhorns were too much for the Bears, as they won 70-55. Fort Benton led big early on, and while Box Elder chipped away, it wouldn't be enough.

Ashlee Wang poured in 23 points and Aspen Giese added 19 for the Horns, while Angela Gopher scored 19 and Kyla Momberg added 15 for Box Elder.

Meanwhile, Saturday night also saw Hays-Lodge Pole hold off CJI in a thriller, 56-39. The T-Birds exploded with a 19-1 run to start the game, and while the Hawks battled back, HLP went on for the big win. Alliya Pretty Paint scored 14 points for HLP and Averie Mattson put up 12 for the Hawks.

Turner bounced back Saturday night with a commanding road win in Chinook. The Tornadoes beat the Sugarbeeters 56-43. Chinook got 18 points from Jayden Miller in the loss.
