Cold weather getting colder and sticking around

The winter weather advisory issued by National Weather Service for the area is still in effect and the predicted temperatures are dropping a bit.

The region is in a winter weather advisory from today through 5 p.m. Sunday, with 2-4 inches of snow accumulation expected on the plains in Hill and Blaine counties.

Liberty County to the Rocky Mountain Front is expected to see 2-5 inches of snow accumulation, but Chouteau County is part of an advisory that runs into Cascade and Fergus counites and through Lewis and Clark, Broadwater and Meagher counties. That advisory predicts 4-10 inches accumulation in lower elevations and 10-20 inches at higher elevations and foothills.

Temperatures are predicted to climb into the 30s in this part of Montana today, and into the 20s Friday, but highs Saturday and Sunday are forecast in the single digits with the lows tonight in the single digits, below zero Friday night and hitting 20 below or colder Sunday and Monday.

The high Monday is expected to be in the single digits below zero.

Highs Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast in the single digits with lows colder than 10 below Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service Forecast this morning did not extend to Tuesday night.
