News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Surrounded

You know, Lord, sometimes one runs across an article that reminds us of days gone by, how You "surround" us with Your unfailing love. Sharing the article and Bible verse with friend, Del, to her that also brought back memories of quilts from when she was a kid. Her mom loved to quilt as did others in their neighborhood. She excitedly told that neighbor lady, "Jane," made quilts not only for her children, but she also made a special quilt for each one of her grandchildren.

Del was privileged one day to be at Jane's house with her mom, when Jane's teenage grandson, Matt, came to visit and help Grandma Jane plan a special quilt for him.

Grandma and Matt looked through her pattern books. He picked out a simple pattern and named some bright colors he liked. Grandma was all set to go, maybe with some help from her neighbors. Gals, back then, did all the quilting by hand, so there were a few quilting parties to attend. What fun the neighbor ladies had. Soon the quilt was totally done and Matt had his special quilt to cuddle under, surrounded by love. Matt knew he was special, he loved to snuggle under his precious quilt - just like his brothers and his cousins did under their quilts.

When presenting the quilts to her family, Grandma Jane told each of her dear ones how special and precious they were to her; reminding them, also, how Your compassion, Lord, for each one of us is even more precious and that Your love surrounds us completely. Just as we are special and precious in Your sight, Lord, and You love us completely, grandma wrote not only her name on a name tag on each of her quilts, she also wrote Psalms 32:10 "... but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him."

Love, Mara
