Havre High swimmers getting in plenty of pool time

The Havre High swim teams were busy this past weekend, with a virtual meet at home, and their first road meet of the season, as well.

Saturday, Havre traveled west for the Cat-Dog Meet co-hosted by Columbia Falls and Whitefish. The meet also included Class AA powers Flathead and Glacier, as well as Polson and Bigfork. Both Blue Pony teams placed fifth overall, with the girls scoring 177 points and the boys 155.

Individually, the Havre girls got some great performances. Kobi Burchard placed third in the 100-meter breaststroke and third in the 100 butterfly. Kyla Burchard took third in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 100 backstroke, while Megan Miller was fourth and Aliviah Pratt sixth in the 200 individual medley.

On the boys side, Havre got fourth-place finishes by Carson Sandstrom in the 200 free and the 50 free. Conner McKay also took fourth in the 100 free and sixth in the 100 backstroke, while Hiram Cammon placed fourth in the 200 IM and Brigham Blackwell was fifth in the 100 butterfly.

The Ponies also took part in a virtual meet hosted by both Great Falls and Bozeman. Gallatin High, Billngs Central and Hardin were also part of the meet, with Havre scoring 17 points on the girls side and 19 on the boys side.

Individual highlights included Kobi Burchard placing fourth and Kyla Burchard sixth in the 50 free, while Pratt paced seventh in 100 breaststroke. Sandstrom took sixth in both the 200 IM and 500 free.

Havre will now return home to host a triangular meet with Columbia Falls and Whitefish Saturday in the Havre Community Pool. The meet starts at noon.
