Northern grapplers dominate at Dickinson State Duals

After a tough go of it against the University of Providence Argos last Thursday night, the Montana State University-Northern wrestling team got right back on the mat. And, the Lights bounced back in a big way.

Northern was in Dickinson, North Dakota, for the Dickinson State Duals Saturday, where the No. 13 Lights went a perfect 3-0.

MSU-N trounced Dakota Wesleyan 48-3, with Nick Kunz (133), Brock Bushfield (157), Steeler French (184) and Isaac Bartel (197) all winning by pin. Connor Harris (149) also won by major decision, while Chase Short (174) picked up a technical fall, and Rylan Moldenhauer won a 6-2 decision at heavyweight.

The Lights also blasted host Dickinson State 41-6. Kunz won by fall against the Blue Hawks, as did Harris, Bushfield and Carl Hansen (197). Short added another technical fall, while Devin Crawford won at 165 as did French at 184.

MSU-N took care of Jamestown College for the second time in a week, as well. In Dickinson, the Lights took down the Jimmies 46-3. Kaleb Frank (125) got a pin, while Carl Cronin (133) and Kunz (141) won by tech falls. Georgino Moraga also got a win at 149, while Crawford won a major, Short got another tech and former Havre Blue Pony Travis Adams got an overtime victory at heavyweight.
