The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team is getting ready to start the belated 2020 season. But head coach Jerry Wagner continues to recruit for the future, too.
Wagner recently announced the signing of Augusta standout Olivia Isakson, a 5-11 outside hitter.
“Olivia has developed impressive character and leadership qualities which are evident both on and off the court,” Wagner said. “Growing up in a small community has really benefited Olivia. It has accelerated her maturation process as a leader and competitor on both the basketball and volleyball courts. Olivia has gained the respect of her teammates with the encouragement and confidence she offers each of them. This respect has earned her the ability to make players better around her.”
Isakson is an extremely accomplished athlete, in volleyball and more.
In volleyball, she was Class C All-State this past season, and is a four-time Northern C All-Conference performer. She’s also strong on the basketball court for the Elks. She will be a two-time Class C All-Stater and a four-year All-Conference performer, as well.
Isakson is equally as talented in the classroom, ranking No. 1 in her current senior class at Augusta, Academic All-Conference freshman through senior years, and honor roll throughout high school career. She plans on majoring in business and education at Northern, and is excited about becoming a Skylight.
“I chose to sign with Northern because I liked the atmosphere and coaching staff that worked so well with me to inform me and make me comfortable,” Isakson said. “My goals for my time at Northern is to work towards success in both academics and athletics and I’m hoping to just grow in all aspects as I experience this new chapter.
“I’m excited to have a very talented all-around athlete like Olivia join the Skylight volleyball program,” Wagner added. “Olivia will be joining a veteran team, a team that will help her develop as a player quickly and launch her into a promising career as a Skylight.”
