Hill County Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Amanda Frickel was named as County Fire Warden at the Hill County Commission’s weekly business meeting Thursday.
Hill County Commissioner Diane McLean said she received word earlier in the week from former commissioner Mike Wendland that he had officially resigned from that post.
Frickel was approved for the position 2-0, with McLean and Commissioner Jacob “Jake” Strissel voting in favor, and Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson absent.
McLean said Frickel has already been in contact with the local fire departments and has good relationships with all of them, making her an ideal candidate.
Frickel will continue as DES coordinator as well.
“I’m absolutely tickled to have Amanda willing and able,” she said.
The Commission also announced that Lorren Schlotfelt had officially taken the position of Hill County Superintendent of Schools effective Jan. 6.
