News you can use
Editor,
After enduring four years of a corrupt and immoral Trump Presidency with a similarly mostly corrupt cabinet and sycophant appointees, I had almost started to breathe a little grateful relief. That is until January 6th, another day that will go down in infamy. This seems to be an ever expanding category the United States is doomed to suffer.
To my “used to be” friends, and some relatives who unfortunately fall in the same category, I should get some satisfaction in saying, “I told you so.” But my heart is so broken after watching the invasion on our nations’ Captiol that there is no joy to be had in that pursuit. After watching Trump and his cronies destroy our country, laws and constitution, I figured we were numb to the destruction. I was wrong!
Not only did Trump incite his insurgents to vandalize, but some of our Senators and Representatives were complicit by lending their voice to the lies regarding our cherished free elections. They abandoned their oath of office to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. This, to simply grovel at the fascist boots of Trumpism. Sen. Steve Daines and Rep. Matt Rosendale have placed a permanent stain on the State of Montana.
By signing on as one of the gang of 13 senators who paraded around and promoted the lies that falsely claimed our nations’ presidential election was rigged, illegal, corrupt, Steve Daines fomented the atmosphere that led to the invasion of our Capitol just as surely as Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump! At this point in history, expecting Daines to resign or even issue and apology to the citizens of Montana is probably out of the realm of possibility.
The same would be expected from Rosendale who joined other representatives in the same charade. Asking the voters of the State of Montana to remember their part in the crime in their next re-election should not be too much.
