Commission puts out call for county board members

The Hill County Commissions has announced that 14 seats are available on various county boards and while some are being reapplied for by their previous holders, the commission is looking for people interested in serving on those boards.

Hill County Commissioner Diane McLean said this spate of vacancies are mostly the result of terms ending, including one seat on the Hill County Park Board, one on the Hill County Health Board, one on the Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Commission, two on the Tourism Business Improvement District Committee, two on the Hill County Weed District Board, three on the Hill County Fair Board, and four on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

The holders of the seats with terms expiring again can apply for the position.

McLean said people interested in these positions should submit a letter of interest to the commission or email them.

The commissioners also voted to have McLean serve as chair for the commission for one year 2-0, with McLean abstaining.

Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson also abstained in the 2-0 vote to name him vice-chair.

The commission also voted unanimously to award the Hill County Detention Center Control Panel Project to Kubl Group for just less than $254,000.

McLean said Kubl’s offer was comparable in its content to the competition but cost significantly less.

She said they also came highly recommended from other detention centers that did business with them.

She said the project includes upgrading the detention center’s control of its doors, intercoms and camera systems, and will likely be a six month project.
