Ice Hawks shut out in Great Falls; Havre stays on the road

With Christmas break behind them, the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team got back on the ice, beginning the new year with a pair of games in Great Falls. Unfortunately, the Ice Hawks fell in both contests against the host Great Falls Americans.

On Saturday night, Great Falls shut out the Ice Hawks 7-0. The Americans scored twice in the first period, three more in the second and two in the third. Havre goalie Clara Holland saved 35 shots, while offensively, Havre got just 18 shots on Great Falls goalie Brady Lorenz, who saved them all.

Havre returned to the Ice Plex in Great Falls Sunday, but the result was no different as Lorenz again shut Havre out. This time, the Americans won 4-0, with two goals in the first, one in the second and one in the third. Holland did have another strong game in goal with 29 saves.

The losses dropped Havre to 3-7 overall, with more road games coming next weekend against Salmon, Idaho. Havre won’t be back in the Havre Ice Dome until Jan. 15-16 against Helena.
