Grief Poem - Hugs and Love

A New Year starts, we need some hugs, hugs are so comforting.

In these hard times we’re all alone, it pulls on our heart’s strings.

Affection is feelings of love; sincere, special and warm.

This joyfulness comes from above and calms most any storm.

Hugs are welcome; by mail, believer; or hugged by a dear friend.

We saw them at the Post Office with a moment to spend.

Their loved one, too, also had passed; that care they also miss.

But time moves on and so must we; though we have lost some bliss.

We know Heaven’s expecting us; it’s where our dear ones are.

Someday we, too, shall fly away to home beyond that Star.

But while we’re here, we’ve work to do, ’cause our time’s not up yet.

Hold to promise God has for us, and try hard not to fret.

Encouragement’s a friendship gift; together we can pray,

As sad days pass, we’re heartbroken, grieving is hard and gray.

A New Year’s next — we’re sure hoping for gladder days ahead.

Recalling now some special times, you’loved our old homestead.

A dear friend shared some loving things they really liked to do.

But he’s been gone for quite a while, recalling makes her blue.

So, we trudge on, like other friend’s, sharing feelings and plans.

Thank God for friends, ‘cause now and then, we need some ‘extra’ hands.

We prize friendship, caring, concern, kindness, some hugs, and praise.

For we do know we’ll meet loved ones, soon, or one of these days.

Play special role: friendly and kind; Happy New Year to you!

We know we’re loved; God’s Word tells us He loves us through and through.
