Foster Home and Hearth opens in 305 Building

A new business in Havre is offering some home goods during the holiday season.

Foster Home and Hearth, a home décor and clothing store, opened in Havre the second week in November.

The store is located in 305 Building on the corner of Third Street and Third Avenue.

The owner of the store, Mayke Brenna, said she wanted to give some more shopping opportunities in Havre.

"The goal of the store was to have somebody walk in and get a gift for somebody, whether its a housewarming, a thank you, a wedding, a baby or something for themselves," she said.

Brenna said she had a hard time deciding between Havre and Helena for a location, but ultimately decided on Havre because it did not have a lot of options for gift shops.

"You either have to drive to Great Falls or Helena or Billings or you have to shop online. So I figured Havre would be my best shot for success," she said. "Helena was already saturated. They already have the gift shops, the fun little niche places to go."

Local products are not available at her store yet Brenna said, but she is looking forward to adding them. She does have a few Montana made items and hopes to add more items in the future.

"I hope that it's something that the community likes and enjoys, because really that was the goal was to offer something that really wasn't there," said Brenna.
