Community Christmas Dinner set for Friday

The Eagles Club is still looking for volunteers for the Community Christmas dinner.

The event will be held despite the COVID-19 pandemic but will contain changes to follow social distancing guidelines.

No in-club dining will occur, instead people will go through a walk-through line to receive the meal and leave the club. Masks will be required as well.

Deliveries will still be made Christmas Day, and volunteers are still needed for that as well as for helping in the club Christmas Eve.

Volunteers will be delivering the meals in a given area, alongside the Havre Jaycees and the Montana Hammers Motorcycle Club.

Christmas Day deliveries and dinner will start at 11 a.m. and go until around 1 p.m.

People who want to order meals can still do so by calling the Hill County Commission office at 400-2327 by 3 p.m. Thursday.

People who would like to volunteer to help with the event can call 265-9551.

Donations will also be accepted at the dinner this year as it is a community dinner and not put on by the Eagles Club.

The decades-old tradition was started by local resident Bob Sivertsen, then organizing and serving the dinner was taken over by the Jerry Bergren family.

The Eagles Club has organized the community dinner for the past several years.
