The North Star speech and drama team’s first virtual meets of the season are now in the books.
About 32 teams competed at the Class BC online tournament hosted by Belfry Dec. 5.
In spontaneous oral interpretation of literature, Emily Conner went to semifinals and finals and placed eighth. Also in SPOI, Quinn Trueax made it to semis and placed 14th. Competing in humorous theater acting, Choral Wicks and Kaden Frickel just missed out on finals, placing ninth.
Being remote made it very interesting and intense, but the team survived thanks to some ingenuity and early morning tech support.
The North Star team took to the Wi-Fi again at the Red Lodge BC invitational Dec. 20. A total of 40 schools and more than 240 students participated at this very large meet. North Star had two semifinalists and one finalist at the competition. Making semi-finals and finals was Emily Conner in SPOI, ending with an eigth-place finish. Garret Pedersen made semifinals and placed 15th in Impromptu. Also competing and doing well, though not making it into semis, were Collin Welch in humorous oral interpretation of literature and BriAnne Stoltz in SPOI.
The next virtual meet will be Choteau’s Christmas Classic this weekend.
