Havre's Dylan Young to run at Montana Western

For the second time in a week, the Havre High cross country team has produced a college runner.

Friday, Blue Pony senior Dylan Young announced via Twitter that he has signed an NAIA national letter of intent to compete in cross country for the Montana Western Bulldogs starting next fall.

Young was a four-year varsity runner, and letter winner for the Blue Ponies. He just completed his senior season, where he ran an 18:01 to finish in 36th place overall in the Class A state boys race in Kalispell back in October. Young, the lone senior on the Pony boys squad, recorded a season-best time in the race and helped Havre to a 12th-place finish overall. Young also ran to Eastern A All-Conference honors two years in a row for the Ponies.

Young has been an athletic standout during his career at HHS. He's also competed in track and field for the Ponies, as well as wrestling.

The Bulldogs finished fourth at last month's Frontier Conference Championships, held at Prairie Farms Golf Course in Havre. The men's and women's teams at Western are coached by Dylan Zitzer.
