Fort Benton star to play hoops at MSU-Billings

From the first time she stepped onto the floor as a freshman, Fort Benton’s Aspen Giese had been a force in District 9C girls basketball. So, there was no question Giese would one day take her talents to the collegiate level.

Now, it appears she’s chosen that college.

Monday, Fort Benton head girls basketball coach Cassie Pimperton tweeted the signing party for Giese, who will take her talents to Montana State-Billings, starting next fall.

“A Lady Horn that’s off to do great things! MSUB is lucky to get this one. Proud of you,” Pimperton’s tweet said Monday.

MSU-B is indeed lucky to get Giese, too. A three-sport standout at Fort Benton, Giese has started for what will be all four years for the Longhorns, who have won three straight District 9C championships. As a freshman, Giese even hit a shot to lift the Longhorns to the district championship in an overtime game at the HHS gymnasium.

Giese has also been part of a machine in girls sports at Fort Benton.

Over the last three years, she has not only helped the Longhorns to unprecedented basketball success, where she’s earned Class C All-State honors along the way, she’s also been a part of two straight volleyball teams that have reached the state tournament, and since her freshman year, has also been an incredible athlete in track and field.

Basketball, though, has always seemed to be where Giese has shined the most, and she and the Longhorns should be very strong once again this winter. Then, it will be off to Billings where she’ll begin her career for the Yellowjackets, of head coach Kevin Woodin.
