Box Elder man pleads not guilty to murder charge

Reuben Charles Blackwolf of Box Elder, 44, has pleaded not guilty in federal court in Billings to charges of second-degree murder and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

A jury trial before Judge Susan Watters is set for Jan. 11 in federal court in Billings.

Blackwolf is accused of killing a person, not named in the court document, Aug. 10 near Lame Deer on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation and assaulted another person, resulting in serious bodily injury.

No additional information was available in the redacted court documents released for public viewing.

If convicted, Blackwolf faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment on the murder charge and up to 10 years imprisonment on the assault charge.
