Montana Motor Vehicle Division going offline

Thursday, Nov. 19, the Montana Motor Vehicle Division will be upgrading its systems, disrupting services to the public until full services resume Nov. 23.

Motor Vehicle Division informed county officials in the state via email Tuesday and issued a press release Thursday.

The release said that, during the upgrade, vehicle and driver services will be unavailable, but customers can still schedule appointments or use mail-in renewal options.

DMV did not respond to multiple requests for additional information, including the liability on people whose registration expires during the time the system is unavailable.

Hill County Treasurer’s Office said in a statement it would affect all registration renewals; title work — newly purchased vehicles, and trip permits, I.E. 40-Day stickers.

The Treasurer’s Office will accept all mail and items dropped off at the office to be processed when the system comes up.
