Havre Elks holding annual Blanket Drive and Veterans Giving Tree

Havre Daily News staff

Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201, which is hosting their 2020 Blanket Drive for Thanksgiving and Christmas along with their annual Veterans’ Giving Tree, is inviting people to register themselves or others for the distribution programs.

People who would like to register themselves, or their family, friends or someone else in need for blankets, comforters, sheets and other bedding available through the program, can call Brandy Kurtz at 390-0091.

Anyone who wants to donate bedding — either new or like-new — can drop donations off at the Elks Club during hours of operation.

The first distribution is Nov. 18 and the second one is Dec. 21, both in the Havre Elks lodge room.

The Veterans’ Giving Tree is a way for Havre Elks Lodge and the community to give back during the holiday season to those who served this country.

Veterans fill out a form letting people know what they want or need for Christmas, then the basic information about the needs is written on tags that are hung on a tree. Any individual or group can pick a tag off the tree, buy the items and return them to the Elks, wrapped or unwrapped. The gifts will be put under the tree and then Dec. 18 lodge secretary Brandy Kurtz will deliver the Christmas gifts to the veterans.

To sign up a veteran or to adopt a veteran, people can call Kurtz at 390-0091.
