Northern Alumni Foundation holding Christmas decorating fundraiser

Montana State University-Northern Alumni Foundation is holding a Deck the Halls competition fundraiser.

“Deck the Halls is a cheerful holiday fundraiser hosted by the Northern Alumni Foundation to support our Northern Students, their clubs and teams,” Northern Alumni Foundation Executive Director Shantel Cronk said.

People can submit entries to the competition by the Sunday, Nov. 1, deadline, and people can start voting online Nov. 21, she said

The foundation’s competitive decorating contest will feature up to 10 houses to raise money for Northern. 

She said people can vote for their favorite decorated house via donations on its  crowdfunding site, which will launch Nov. 21. 

Entering house for the decorating competition has no charge, and a cash prize will be awarded to whichever house is the winner, she said, adding that all who vote via a donation to their favorite house will be entered into a drawing to win a prize.

It’s a crowdfunding fundraiser, she said. People drive by the houses to look at the decorations or view photos of the houses online, then vote for their favorite house by making a donation at the foundation’s website.

People will be able to vote at https://msunfoundation.org .

“We at the foundation want to put the fun in fundraising and brighten our winter nights by encouraging people to show their lights this winter,” Cronk said. “This will be something that will get people out of the house to go see the lights and at the same time raise money for our students.

 “It could be a tough, isolating winter for many, and this will allow a family-friendly and safe event, driving around and looking at lights,” she added.

 “All money raised goes to support Northern students,” Cronk said. “We want to make the darkest nights of the year the brightest.”
