Buerkle, Brurud appointed to Youth Justice Council

In announcements Friday of appointments to state boards, councils, committees and commissions, two Havreites were listed as appointees to the Youth Justice Council.

Kevin Buerkle and Tim Brurud were appointed to the council, which the Montana Board of Crime Control website says is a cross section of public and private employees who are working to prevent or reduce juvenile delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system.

Buerkle is the chief juvenile probation officer for the 12th Judicial District Youth Court.

  Brurud is the Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line and is a Board of Crime Control member.

Other appointments announced Friday were, to the Youth Justice Advisory Council,

• Qasim Abdul-Baki, Helena. Qualification: Law Enforcement and juvenile justice agencies, including juvenile and family court judges, etc. Abdul-Baki is a lawyer with the Office of the Public Defender.

• Minnetta Armstrong, Browning. Qualification: Nonprofit with special focus on preserving, strengthening families, parent groups. Armstrong is the director of the Blackfeet Early Childhood Center.

• Georgia Cady, Columbus. Qualification: Representative of victim or witness advocacy groups, with expertise in addressing the challenges of sexual abuse, and exploitation and trauma. Cady is a crisis counselor lead for Tumbleweed Runaway Program, Inc.

• Michael Chavers, Billings. Qualification: Representative of programs that are alternatives to incarceration, including recreation activities. Chavers is the chief executive officer of the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.

• Chase Comes at Night, Missoula. Qualification: Under the age of 28. Comes at Night is a student at the University of Montana.

• Dr. Tamara Greeling, Billings. Qualification: Parent of a youth involved in the judicial system. Greeling is a psychiatric sssessment clinician for the Billings Clinic Hospital.

• Hon. Mary Jane Knisely, Billings. Qualification: Law Enforcement and juvenile justice agencies, including juvenile and family court judges, etc. Knisely is a district court judge in the 13th District.

• Quinn Leighton, Helena. Qualification: Nonprofit with special focus on preserving, strengthening families, parent groups. Leighton is the regional philanthropy officer for Montana with the Pride Foundation.

• Emily Sallee, Frenchtown. Qualification: Persons licensed or certified with expertise and competence in preventing and addressing mental health, and substance abuse needs in delinquent youth and youth at risk of delinquency. Sallee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling at the University of Montana.

• Jaxx Saunders, Missoula. Qualification: Under the Age of 28. Saunders is a student at the University of Montana.

• Bob Scheben, Bonner. Qualification: Experience and competence in addressing problems related to school violence and vandalism. Scheben is a police officer with the University of Montana.

• Randy Shipman, Dillon. Qualification: Public agency concerned with delinquency prevention or treatment. Shipman is the superintendent of Dillon Elementary School District #10.

• Brie Shulman, Missoula. Qualification: Representative of programs that are alternatives to incarceration, including recreation activities. Shulman is the executive director and program therapist for Inner Roads, Inc.

• Geri Small, Lame Deer. Qualification: Tribal representative or individual with significant expertise in tribal law enforcement and juvenile justice in tribal communities and is a Board of Crime Control Member. Small is the chief professional officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Cheyenne.

• Patricia Steinwand, Helena. Qualification: Volunteer who works with delinquents or potential delinquents. Steinwand is the clerical and job development supervisor for the Career Training Institute.

• RaeGyn Trombley, Great Falls. Qualification: Under the age of 28. RaeGyn is a senior at Great Falls High.

• Derek VanLuchene, Helena. Qualification: Board of Crime Control Member. VanLuchene is the president and founder of Ryan United.

 

Alternative Health Care Board

• Dr. Jeff Green, Belgrade. Qualification: Naturopath. Green is the owner and doctor at Big Sky Integrative Health, PC.

 

Commission on Community Service

• Morgan Hubbard, Forsyth. Qualification: 16-25 year old who is involved in a service, national or campus program. Hubbard is a CNA at Rosebud Health Care Center and an ASMSUB Student Senator.

 

Board of Public Education

• Sharon Carroll, Ekalaka. Qualification: District 2, Independent. Carroll works with the Ekalaka Public Schools.

 

Future Fisheries Review Panel

• Bill Mytton, Absarokee. Qualification: Expertise in commercial agriculture. Mytton is retired on the Burradoo Ranch.

• Bob Schroeder, Florence. Qualification: Expertise in irrigated agriculture. Schroeder is the owner of Schroeder Ranch and an Agriculture Advisor for MPG Ranch.

• Luca Welle, Kalispell. Qualification: Montana High School Student. Welle is a senior at Whitefish High School and is an Automotive Detailing Assistant for Rocky Mountain Transportation.

• Nancy Winslow, Missoula. Qualification: Expertise in Mining Reclamation Techniques. Winslow has served as an environmental scientist and geologist consultant on reclamation planning.

 

State Rehabilitation Council

• Tom Manthey, Billings. Qualification: Representative of individuals with disabilities who have difficulty or are unable to represent self. Manthey is the director of the Montana Center for Inclusive Education at Montana State University Billings.

 

State Workforce Innovation Board

• Jeaneen Campbell, Helena. Qualification: Business Representative. Campbell is a Regional Sales Executive for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana.

• Al Ekblad, Helena. Qualification: Workforce Representative. Ekblad is the executive secretary of the Montana AFL-CIO.

• Ross Lane, Bozeman. Qualification: Business representative. Lane is the vice president of corporate relations for Montana Rail Link.

• Commissioner Mike McGinley, Dillon. Qualification: Local government elected official. McGinley is a county commissioner for Beaverhead County.

• Deb Poteet, Missoula. Qualification: Business representative. Poteet is the owner and president of Poteet Construction, Inc.

• Melanie Schwartz, Billings. Qualification: Workforce representative. Schwartz is the director of business development for Big Sky Economic Development.

• Grover Wallace, Big Timber. Qualification: Business representative. Wallace is the operations human resource manager for Sibanye Stillwater Mining Co.

 

Statewide Independent Living Council

• Scott Birkenbuel, Bozeman. Qualification: Person with disability and independent living center representative. Birkenbuel is the deputy CEO of the Montana Independent Living Project.

• Bonnie Kelley, Missoula. Qualification: Person with disability and independent living center representative. Kelley is a peer advocate at Summit Independent Living Center.
